Post Rain8MB Issues
Hello,

I have two Rain8 MB units that have been performing excellent for years.

Unit #1 [sprinklers zones 1-6]
Unit #2 [drip zones 1-6]
Controlled by Indigo Pro v4.1.19
Nothing in the system has changed that would indicate signal interference,
although I learned the hard way that X10/Rain8 hates it when I have power
tool batteries on their charger!

I have noticed that some zones are randomly not firing, which is a problem
since the irrigation runs early AM when nobody is there to see, and I live
in the desert so missed zones equal lots of dead expensive plants.

Example:
- drip zones 1-5 may run, but 6 doesn't as 5 continues to run unstopped.

The Indigo log does NOT reflect what is actually happening.
The log always shows every zone ON/OFF as normal.

- If I manually [execute action now] the drip schedule, then go to 'DEVICES', click 'NEXT ZONE >>' to get to zone 5, the schedule runs zone 5 normal and then hands off to zone 6 as normal.

Why is my daily schedule not shutting off zone 5, then turning on zone 6? Zone 5 just keeps running indefinitely, yet the log shows it off.

OTHER QUESTION:
Once Rain8 gets its ON for zone 1, does Rain8 control the ON/OFF for the
rest of the zones, OR is Indigo controlling them?

Any thoughts are appreciated.

This sounds like a classic power line noise problem to me. You said nothing has changed, but note the change can be very subtle. A mobile phone charger plugged in to a different outlet, for example.

The Rain8 handles turning off the previous zone when a new zone is activated.

The schedule runs at 4 am, I'm still in bed, so nothing in the house is changing during zone 1-6. The issue is always zone 5 > zone 6. When I first caught the issue zone 5 was a runaway zone, it had run for hours until I shut it off. I have my Rain8 max run at 30 min, so that feature didn't work.

Today zone 5 & 6 worked fine, tomorrow ???

If the Rain8 module itself is responsible for turning off zone 5, why would that be a powerline issue? The module is wired directly into the zone 5 valve?

If it is always the same zone that fails and the other zones never fail, then it sounds like the Rain8 has a problem to me.
