Post CM15A RF Remote problem
I just received a CM15A and in setting it up I find Indigo has a problem with understanding RF commands dealing with addresses above #8. I can send 1 to 8, on/off, and brighten/dim and Indigo understands them, but if I send 9 to 16, In the Event Log I read,

Error undefined byte from CM15 interface

I tried the CM15A on a PC with X10s software and it shows it is receiving the signals. I have a two X10 RF remotes and have tried both with the same results.

Please let me know if you need more info or have a solution.

Thanks,
TDF

Post Re: CM15A RF Remote problem
I just tried my CM15A (firmware version 1) with a PalmPad remote and it was able to receive and decode all unit codes (I tried D1-D8 and D9-D16). What house code and remote control types did you try? I want to try reproducing with the exact same hardware and addresses if possible.

If I cannot reproduce the problem, then I might need your help to debug into the problem via email.

Regards,
Matt

Post remotes
I have a X10 Powerhouse 6n1 and a IBM Homedirector. The Powerhouse is set for A, the Homedirector is L.

After your email a tried again;

The Powerhouse set off a new error message when I tried 9 this time it reads;

Error undefined RF packet type (14) from interface
Error undefined byte (01) from interface
Error undefined byte (3E) from interface

Then after about six more lines of;

Error undefined byte from CM15 interface

I started getting a A9 On but it preceded by two lines of ;

Error undefined byte from CM15 interface

After this apparent success with the Powerhouse I tried the Homedirector but still get the;

Error undefined byte from CM15 interface

I was using the IBM Homedirector when I first was checking out the CM15, but I thought I’d tried the Powerhouse also.

I then tried changing the House Code on the Powerhouse to I, and tried it. I received the;

Error undefined byte from CM15 interface

I then tried D with the same results.

Before I forget to mention my CM15A is firmware version 2.

Please let me know any more info you might need.

Thanks for a great program!

Post Re: remotes
I tried a PowerHouse 6n1 on my system and didn't have any problems with high device codes. How close are you operating the remote to the CM15A? The errors you are seeing typically happen when the remote is slightly out-of-range from the controller (CM15), so the received codes are garbled. Can you try it within a few feet of the CM15 to see if it works better?

Presuming it still fails, then send me an email offline (indigo-support at perceptiveautomation.com) and I'll walk you through some diagnostic steps. It might have something to do with the newer firmware your CM15 is running.

Matt

How strange. Looks like either the version 2 of the CM15 firmware has a bug, or you have a slightly defective CM15.

Regardless, I've posted a build that works around the problem here:

   http://www.perceptiveautomation.com/indigo/download/Indigo_beta.dmg

The catch is Indigo will not weed out bad commands as well. There is a checksum sent in the packet of RF commands, which is useful to drop RF commands that become corrupt (most likely because they are out-of-range). I had to turn off some of this checksum testing to get your CM15 working with Indigo. There is still some checksum testing that happens, so I think we'll be okay with this new technique.

Let me know if it works for you.

Matt
