 IP status monitor
I have DSL service through my phone company (its the only service available in my area). It frequently goes out and the DSL modem does not reset itself; I need to cycle power to get the connection back. I travel a lot, and use my home machine as a server and use a Sling Box. Does anyone know of a piece of software that monitors the status of the IP connection / address and can report back an interruption using an applescript? That way I can have Indigo cycle power using an appliance module attached to the DSL modem. I have tried IP Reporter, but it does not continually check the connection. I have also tried BwanaDik, but it can only display an alert on screen if the connection is interrupted.
Thanks, Richard

 Re: IP status monitor
I have a AS or automator work flow that e-mails me a change in IP. But thats not what you are looking for.
You could use a AS script run every x minutes that just pings the outside world. If it fails, toggle the applinc on the router to reset it.

 Re: IP status monitor
Hi Richard, Read over this forum thread for some ideas including a sample AppleScript.
